Although the number of cards that players use in Catte may vary by region or country, and Southern Vietnam uses 6 per person. Every player is dealt with 6 cards and they then play through the first four rounds having only two left for the final one.

The order of play is decided by the suit as well, but that becomes less consequential in practice. In Catte, your main rule is to follow suit of the round. E.g., if you played a Heart card, the other person must play another Heart card (one with a higher digit). The suit value is mainly how they determine the dealer (whichever player has scored the highest with a lower number from 1–4), if it must be necessary to use other factors, such as team hardship.

How many Players — Dealing The best number of players for Catte is 4–6. In this case, it can accompany up to 9 players as each player needs only 6 cards and still the total does not exceed over limit of 52. Each player gets 6 cards from the dealer, and then plays begins (the winner of a game starts dealing in the next one).
